Finale!

Describe in a paragraph, the most important lesson that you had learnt in your EIR journey.

For me, the most important lesson that I learnt in EIR is how to fully utilise the internet so as to make my job easier. As a diploma student, I have to research on various things on a regular basis therefore by having this knowledge of how to research wisely and efficiently, my time is definitely not wasted by going through redundant websites which are not relevant to my research.

Youtube

What role does YouTube play in your life? Can you live without YouTube.

Youtube for me is a source of stress-relief. Whenever I need a breather from projects or work, I'll go to facebook watch some videos and then I'll feel better. Even so, i feel that I am able to live without Youtube.

How can you use YouTube for research purposes?

Youtube is a good place for research because there are so many videos in their network that videos from the past can be found there. The problem of getting old information is not a problem with Youtube around.

BLOG ENTRY 6

Which criteria did you use to evaluate talkingcock.com? Why did you choose this criteria?

I evaluate talkingcock.com based on the criteria, "purpose". Personally I feel that the site is a redundant site and has no meaning to its existence other than provide humour to people who frequent the site. However, as the country is beginning to mature quickly, I think that talkingcock.com will soon serve no purpose in existing in the world wide web.

Practical 6

Do you think it is more effective to search the invisible web (databases) than using search engines, meta-search or subject directories? Why?

Compared to invisible databases, search engines is more practical because I can control the search results. I personally feel that using search engines, I get better search results.

Will you use the invisible web (databases) for research in your own respective Diplomas? Why?

As of now, perhaps I will use invisible web databases for my research because whatever form of research is welcomed in my diploma and sometimes the more research from different avenues will give me a wide variety of choice. So I will definitely keep the option open to using invisible databases because of its wide range of search results.

Practical 4 & 5

Using different search facilities broadens up my choice of research results therefore having a wide choice of things to choose from to help with my research.

Using site feeds definitely helps me a lot because it cuts down time as I do not need to type the whole url but instead just click on one link which leads me to the site that I want to go to. I will definitely use this in future because it is easy for me and also it is idiot-proof therefore if there is an instance where others need to help me do something related to my research, I can just guide them using the site feeds.

Practical 3

I personally am impressed by the simplicity and efficiency of Google because I have always thought that search facilities are very tedious and require specific search queries to maximise the usage of the search facility. However with Google, I realised that no matter how vague the search query is, Google still manage to come up with search results that actually has a link to the search query. Sometimes I think that Google can actually read my mind.

OK, enough about reading minds. When asked about discussion forums, I actually do not have any problems with participating in one because I am used to discussing with people online. Although most of the time, I will be discussing about hobbies at the forums that I go to, the forums that I was asked to participate in is rather different. On top of that, the discussion that I was asked to participate is about something that I do not know anything about therefore it is good in a way that it helps me learn something new from people.

Citations and bibliography has always been THE killer question everyone can never get the right answer to. To me, the importance of doing all that is to credit someone for their hard work.

Wishful thinking

If I had $500, there's so many things that I would love to get my hands on to.

First thing that I will get would be rayban aviators. I personally feel that having my own raybans is cool. My fascination with aviators started after watching the movie Starsky and Hutch and since I want to be as cool as them, I will definitely get aviators if i have $500.

RAYBAN AVIATORS - $75

So, after spending $75 dollars, I am left with $425. Second thing I would purchase would be a miniature vespa scooter. As a fan of scooters and vintage vehicles, this will definitely fit nicely into my collection of miniature vintage automobiles.

MINIATURE VESPA SCOOTER - $22

I'm left with $403. With two of my favorite things bought, I am now going to spend on things that has been on my wish list for several years.

First thing I would buy would be a memorabilia of the band, The Beatles. As they are one of my all-time favorite bands, it is only natural I have most of their memorabilias.

Rare Mcfarlane The Beatles Boxset Green Alligator - $120

The Beatles, one of the top bands in history. To own a collectors item is such an honour for me. So after deducting $120 from my budget, I am left with $283..

The next think that I would get would be a nice bag.

Fred Perry Bag - $39.90

The Fred Perry bag is a cool bag. It definitely rank very high in my "cool things" list therefore after getting the beg, I don't have anything else to get.

So I am left with $243.10. I think I will donate whatever money I have left to various charity organisations.
